Dr. Glenda Laxton, ND
Born and raised on the Vancouver’s idyllic North Shore, Dr. Laxton is a West Coast native.
After studying anthropology at the University of British Columbia and ethnobotany at the University of Victoria, Dr. Laxton became interested in the relationship between native cultures and plants. She saw how many of these peoples were connected to their natural surroundings and in tune with the rhythms of the planet and their own bodies.
A vegetarian and mindful eater from an early age, Dr. Laxton has always had a passion for food and the effects it has on our bodies and our overall wellbeing.
Her quest to learn more about nutrition and natural medicine led her to the National College of Naturopathic Medicine in Portland, Oregon, where she discovered an aptitude for healing.
After graduating as Doctor of Naturopathy in 1998, Dr. Laxton opened Westcoast Naturopathic Clinic in Vancouver, Canada. Over the years, her calm demeanor, empathy, listening skills and commitment to naturopathic best practices have helped her to develop a robust, thriving family practice with a particular specialty in women’s health, including fertility, menopause and obstetrics.
A world traveller and avid adventurer, when Dr. Laxton is not in her clinic, you can find her experimenting with new and healthy recipes, running along the Stanley Park Seawall, skiing on the slopes of Whistler Blackcomb or roving the planet with her husband, Horst.
